GROUPS OF MICROORGANISMS NBIMCC is а reference culture collection and holds different kinds of microorganisms – bacteria, actinomycetes, yeasts, filamentous fungi (moulds) and plasmid-bearing microorganisms. The public collection includes type, control, teaching and other strains from around the world that are useful and applicable to health services, industry, agriculture, education and science. NBIMCC preserves only microorganisms belonging to risk group 1 and 2. NBIMCC maintains and supplies most of the microorganisms included in the WDCM Reference Strain Catalogue. See section Quality control strains. Some of the microorganisms offered by NBIMCC are certified strains. They have passed quality control for cultural and phenotypic properties. The old catalogue is still available for use.
